The Cabinet of Ministers Is Implementing Strict Budget Cuts, Says Koretsky

Due to the state budget deficit, the Cabinet of Ministers is implementing strict austerity measures. Government officials also explained where they will secure additional funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi made this statement during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.
According to the prime minister, the 2027 state budget will be formulated with maximum cost savings.
The government is implementing strict measures to conserve budget funds not earmarked for defense needs. As a result, we have already identified 70 billion in savings, all of which will be directed toward defense needs

The head of government emphasized that despite the strict austerity measures, the state will fulfill all its social obligations to citizens.
At the same time, we must fulfill all necessary social obligations: regarding pensions and salaries—there will be no problems

The head of the Ukrainian government noted that the principle of saving every budget hryvnia will also be applied during the preparation of next year’s state budget.
When preparing the budget for the 27th year, we must also proceed from the principle of maximizing savings on every hryvnia in the budget. I ask the deputies to actively participate in the process of forming the budget for the 27th year

Koretsky named the audit of the Ministry of Defense’s expenditures as the government’s second priority. Over the course of the month, the government will analyze all issues to ensure the most efficient use of budgetary resources.
Of course, we will analyze and scrutinize every hryvnia, but the war is changing significantly. It is becoming significantly more expensive—that is the reality—and we must respond to these challenges

As a reminder, in early August, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi stated that the defense forces require additional funding, so the government will revise the budget. The realities on the battlefield necessitate additional funding for the Defense Forces in 2026.
