Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha responded to the closure by Hungarian law enforcement authorities of the criminal investigation into the transport of funds and gold by Oschadbank’s cash collectors. The case was closed due to the absence of the elements of a crime.
Sibiga announced this on social media platform X.
The minister called the decision “the predictable end to Viktor Orbán’s lies.”

As a reminder, on March 5, 2026, two Oschadbank cash-in-transit vehicles were detained in Hungary along with a team of cash collectors who were transporting 40 million U.S. dollars, 35 million euros, and 9 kg of bank gold. On May 6, 2026, Oschadbank announced the return of the funds and valuables that had been illegally seized in Hungary.
The cash collectors’ lawyer demanded Orban’s arrest, as his government had declared the shipment of money to be illegal, raising suspicions of money laundering. The lawyer accused Orbán of unlawful detention, torture, and forced interrogation of the Ukrainian cash transporters.
