Trump is the last person in the world who dares to criticize Ukraine for its high fuel prices

Opinions

Our strikes on Russian refineries are indeed affecting global diesel prices. As a result of these strikes, Russia has gone from being a diesel exporter to an importer. This, of course, affects the global diesel balance. And it is one of the factors driving diesel prices to record highs. One of them—but not the main one.

But Trump is the last person in the world who has any right to criticize Ukraine for high gas prices.

No matter whose cow is mooing.

And it’s definitely not because of Ukraine’s strikes that the price of a barrel of Brent crude is staying above $100. Trump is the one who stirred up this mess. Trump started a war with Iran without any plan and destabilized the markets. He’s hurt absolutely everyone in the world except Putin. And now he’s trying to tell American voters that it’s his daughter-in-law who screwed up.

But it seems that this time, everyone understands exactly where the stench is coming from. And it’s not the smell of record profits. It’s not even the smell of diesel.

And so, if Trump really needs to, let him call his friend Putin and convince him to declare an energy truce. Then, of course, before winter, Ukraine will gladly take a break from striking the refineries. And yes, Putin is unlikely to want to do that. But who’s the world’s greatest dealmaker here? Surely he can handle such a piece of cake?

Oh, right, there’s also Putin’s friend supplying the Iranians with Shahab missiles. Probably even jet-powered ones. Which will soon be flying toward American bases. What a shame.

And yes, it seems Trump won’t do anything. Why? Because if Ukraine were to suddenly stop the attacks on oil refineries—if Putin were to agree to an energy truce—it might turn out that this wouldn’t have much of an impact on the price of oil. And the price of diesel would drop only very, very slightly. And then there’d be no daughter-in-law left…
