“Moscow Must Feel Greater Pressure”: Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry Responds to Tokayev’s Call on Putin to End the War

The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry made the statement on the social media platform X.

Sybiga welcomed the Kazakh leader’s public appeal, calling it an appropriate reflection of the need for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.

At the same time, Sibiga recalled that Ukraine had already put forward a concrete and constructive proposal to end the bloodshed as soon as possible. According to him, Kyiv was ready to halt hostilities along the current line of contact and begin a negotiation process, but the Russian side categorically rejected this.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Moscow’s reaction to peace initiatives remains consistently destructive. Putin’s spokesperson has already swiftly rejected the new proposal put forward by the President of Kazakhstan.

According to Andriy Sybiga, the Kremlin’s such a demonstrative refusal to consider any constructive ways out of the war indicates that political and diplomatic arguments are currently insufficient for Russia.

As a reminder, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Omsk, proposed freezing the war against Ukraine, returning to negotiations based on the “Istanbul formula,” and moving toward a peaceful settlement. The Kremlin stated that it is not currently considering this option.
