Putin rejected Zelenskyy's proposal to meet at the G20 summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin has declined Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s proposal to hold a meeting during the G20 summit in the United States.

Zelenskyy stated that he is ready to attend the December summit in Miami and hold talks with Putin, provided that Putin is also present.

According to the Ukrainian president, if a meeting takes place, the leaders should talk not just for the sake of making statements, but to achieve concrete results.

The Kremlin rejected this possibility. Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Putin is allegedly willing to meet with Zelenskyy, but only in Moscow.

When asked about another possible venue for the talks, he replied that the Russian side is prepared to hold the meeting specifically in the Russian capital.

At the same time, Putin’s participation in the December G20 summit has not yet been officially confirmed.

Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine currently has a stronger position on the battlefield than it did last year and considers this a favorable moment to begin negotiations.

At the same time, Kyiv has repeatedly proposed holding a meeting with Putin on neutral territory, but Moscow insists on negotiations only in the Russian capital.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that he is ready to attend the G20 summit in Miami and meet there with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, provided that Putin also attends the event.
