The Foreign Ministry commented on Zaluzhnyi's statement regarding NATO

According to Tykhyi, the full quote referred primarily to the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), not to NATO.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized its long-standing official position: Ukraine’s course toward accession to the North Atlantic Alliance remains unchanged, and there is no alternative to Ukraine’s membership in NATO.

Tykhyi also emphasized that if the allies seek to ensure guaranteed security and peace in the Euro-Atlantic region, the security architecture in Europe is impossible without Ukraine.

Evidence of this recognition is the final document of the NATO Summit in Ankara, where Ukraine was recognized as a contributor to Euro-Atlantic security.

As a reminder, during a discussion on Euro-Atlantic integration at a meeting of ambassadors in Kyiv, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, stated: “Don’t believe the fairy tales; Ukraine will never become a member of NATO.” According to him, it is impossible to join an organization that adheres to World War II-era doctrines with the current level of development of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
