The remains of the first leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) will be brought to Ukraine and reburied at the National Military Memorial Cemetery.
This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The remains of Colonel Yevhen Konovalets, the first head of the OUN, were exhumed at the “Crossway” cemetery in Rotterdam.
At the request of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, organizational matters were handled by Kyrylo Budanov and the team from the Office of the President, Andriy Sybiga and the team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Oleksandr Alferov and the team from the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance

It is noted that Konovalets’ remains will be reburied in Ukraine at the National Military Memorial Cemetery.
The farewell ceremony will take place at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Kyiv

Background: Yevhen Konovalets was born in 1891 in the Lviv region. He was a prominent fighter for Ukraine’s independence in the 20th century.
Konovalets was a colonel in the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and commander of the Sich Riflemen. He was the founder of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and served as its first chairman from 1929 to 1938.
The colonel was assassinated in Rotterdam on May 23, 1938: NKVD agent Sudoplatov gave Konovalets explosives disguised as a box of chocolates, presented as a gift “from friends.”
As a reminder, a solemn reburial ceremony for the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, Colonel Andriy Melnyk of the Ukrainian People’s Republic Army, and his wife, Sofia Fedak-Melnyk, took place at the National Military Memorial Cemetery near Kyiv. His descendants and the country’s highest-ranking officials came to honor the memory of this outstanding figure.
