Is a Meeting Between Zelenskyy, Putin, and Trump in the Works? A Spokesperson for Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry Reveals Details

Georgiy Tykhyy, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on the preparations for the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Tykhyy spoke about this in an interview with “Shelter.”
As for the trilateral meeting… at the leadership level—Zelenskyy, Putin, and possibly Trump or someone else—we haven’t stopped these talks; they’re still ongoing. And Ukraine’s proposal remains on the table: that a meeting of the leaders is needed, one that could unblock the process and truly lead to an end to the war. We understand that in Russia, everything is decided by—I don’t know how to put it—a specific individual: the war criminal Vladimir Putin

At the same time, as Tykhyy noted, Putin is currently avoiding this meeting.
“To reach any political, substantive, major decisions, a meeting at the leadership level is definitely needed. Well, Putin is, as you can see, stalling, hiding, and unwilling to agree,” the Ukrainian diplomat stated.
When asked whether such a meeting might still be possible by the fall of 2026, Tykhyy emphasized that Ukraine is striving for this. And, in his opinion, it would be more advantageous for Russia to end the war. The diplomat also recalled historical instances when Russia did eventually “back down from wars.”
“This is our goal… In fact, pressure on Russia is increasing significantly, both due to Ukraine’s kinetic sanctions and due to the sanctions pressure from our partners. The EU’s 21st sanctions package, despite all the exemptions included in it, is one of the strongest in recent times. Military support for Ukraine is not waning, and Ukraine’s capabilities are growing, so it seems to us that things will only get worse for Russia from here on out. And for them, the wise decision would be to end the war,” the Ukrainian diplomat stated.
For now, however, as Tykhyy noted, Russia is acting “completely irrationally.”
