Ukraine's Foreign Ministry confirmed that discussions are underway regarding the replacement of Ukraine's ambassador to the U.S.

Georgiy Tykhyy, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that discussions are underway regarding the replacement of Ukraine's ambassador to the United States.
He spoke about this in an interview with "Shelter."
At the same time, Tykhyy emphasized that the Ukrainian Embassy in the U.S. is currently operating at full capacity.
We have an embassy operating in Washington. And even though there’s talk there about a possible replacement for the ambassador, the embassy team is still working… This replacement is being discussed. It’s already been mentioned publicly, so there’s no secret here

At the same time, Tykhyy stressed that he is very limited in commenting on these personnel matters, since the decision to appoint an ambassador is made by the president.
“The decision to appoint or recall a particular ambassador is always made by the President of Ukraine. …After all, I hold an official position. If I were to create any expectations regarding personnel, I would essentially be telling the President of Ukraine, right here on our broadcast, whom to appoint and whom not to. I would not want to do that,” the diplomat noted.
As a reminder, on July 12, 2026, the publication “Interfax-Ukraine,” citing a source, reported that Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., Olga Stefanishyna, would leave the diplomatic service of her own accord, despite the fact that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is satisfied with her work.
The reason cited was certain personal circumstances.
Olga Stefanishyna was appointed Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.S. by a decree of the President of Ukraine dated August 27, 2025. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
On July 30, 2026, the publication “Suspilne” published comments by Stefanishyna, in which she emphasized, in particular, that Zelenskyy had not asked her to resign and did not want her to do so.
She also addressed allegations that she had failed to declare her assets.
In July 2025, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, as reported by the publication “Hromadske,” opened a criminal case against Olga Stefanishyna, who at the time was acting Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine—Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
The case was opened on suspicion of abuse of power or official position.
