The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied allegations made by Qasim al-Abudi, National Security Advisor to the Republic of Iraq, regarding Kyiv’s alleged involvement in organizing explosions at Iraqi government facilities.
The comment was made by a Foreign Ministry spokesperson, according to the ministry’s press service.
Earlier, in an interview with Dijlah TV, an Iraqi official stated that there was new information regarding “Ukrainian interference”.
“We detained a small group of people who confessed to working for Ukraine. They selected targets and carried out explosions at some Iraqi government facilities.”

Although he acknowledged the need for further investigation before bringing charges.
In response to this information, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that there is no evidence to support such claims, and that Baghdad had not provided Kyiv with any information prior to the public television appearance.
We consider it unacceptable and irresponsible for a high-ranking official of a friendly state to publicly make such statements without a proper evidentiary basis. This contradicts the principles of mutual respect and damages Ukrainian-Iraqi relations

The ministry also noted that the statements made fully align with Russian propaganda narratives and may be the result of a coordinated information and psychological operation aimed at undermining the bilateral partnership.
In light of this, Ukrainian diplomats called on Iraqi officials to respond appropriately to the incident and prevent state institutions from being used to disseminate hostile disinformation in the interests of third parties.
