The State Bureau of Investigation has already announced the first charge based on the findings of the “Skela” investigation, – Lubinets

Dmytro Lubinets reported this in an interview with “Novyny.LIVE.”

According to Lubinets, the monitoring group of the Ombudsman’s Office has received additional information about the events at the unit’s deployment sites. At the same time, the investigation into the alleged violations at the military unit is still ongoing.

The Ombudsman emphasized that the charges filed will not be the last in this case. He stressed that law enforcement and military officials are not obstructing the investigation in any way; on the contrary, they are providing full cooperation.

Lubinec also noted that it is now important to preserve the reputation of the unit, which demonstrated heroism in battle and liberated settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk region; however, no one will turn a blind eye to shameful incidents and violations of the law.

As a reminder, the scandal surrounding the military unit arose following an investigation by the publication “Babel” into the deaths of at least 26 recruits from the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya.”

In response, the command of the “Skelya” regiment confirmed the non-combat deaths of the recruits but denied allegations of systematic torture. Representatives of the unit stated that 18 of these cases occurred in the hospital or en route to it due to chronic illnesses or the generally poor health of the conscripts. The regiment also assured that it is actively cooperating with the investigation and doing everything possible to reduce non-combat losses to zero.

Currently, the State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case under the article concerning the abuse of authority or official powers by a military official under martial law, which resulted in serious consequences.
