On the night of August 20, the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant experienced its 27th blackout since the start of the full-scale invasion and its 15th this year.

Energoatom reported this.

The press service noted that the nuclear power plant is currently operating on generators.

The temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP has lost its external power supply for the fifteenth time this year: backup diesel generators automatically activated to ensure the operation of critical safety systems

The company emphasized that regular blackouts at the Zaporizhzhia NPP cause equipment wear and tear and increase safety risks.

Yet another blackout confirms once again that the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP remains precarious. Risks to nuclear and radiation safety are increasing under the influence of incompetent Russian “managers.”

The press service noted that the only guarantee of the plant’s safe operation remains the de-occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and its return to the full control of Ukraine and its sole legitimate operator—JSC “NAEK “Energoatom.”

As a reminder, on August 18, a drone exploded near a bus stop at the Zaporizhzhia NPP used by plant employees. One person was killed and others were injured.
