“Missiles should be in launchers, not in warehouses”: Zelenskyy discusses the air defense situation in Ukraine

Ukraine is working with the United States and its partners in Europe to secure the necessary air defense support packages.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on social media.
It’s important that there is daily coordination. First—air defense. We’re working with the U.S. and our partners in Europe to secure the necessary support packages for Ukraine. It’s not easy, but we expect to see results. The missiles for air defense are needed at our launch sites, not in warehouses somewhere far from the actual threats.

According to him, work is also currently underway to localize the necessary types of Western weapons in Ukraine.
There will be a significant expansion in this area. No details are available at this time, but I thank our partners in Europe for their willingness to support our resilience in the long term through localization and joint defense production.

In addition, as the head of state noted, during meetings in the U.S. on his recent visit, an agreement was reached on “several specific options for the use of missile systems and the expansion of cooperation between Ukrainian and American companies.” In this regard, Zelenskyy added, “document preparation and communication are ongoing,” and the process will be coordinated by Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa.
As a reminder, on the night of August 1, Russia carried out another massive strike against Ukraine. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during the attack, only one ballistic missile out of the 27 launched was shot down, “simply because there are no missiles for the Patriot system.”
