Russia is targeting Ukraine's energy sector; we are responding: Zelenskyy and the General Staff have confirmed strikes on enemy infrastructure

This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The head of state confirmed the destruction of an oil refinery in Syzran, strikes in Taganrog on a drone manufacturing facility, and a drone training and launch site in Russia’s Oryol Oblast. There were also strikes in the Black Sea.  

At the same time, the General Staff provided details on the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ operations against Russian targets:

• On the territory of the Syzran oil refinery in the Samara Region of the Russian Federation, a strike was recorded, followed by a fire. The AVT-6 primary oil refining unit and the tank farm were struck;
• at the “Atlant Aero” facility in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, which specializes in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles and their components, explosions and a fire were reported;
• Three storage tanks were destroyed and eight were damaged at the “Slavyansk ECO” oil refinery in Slavyansk-na-Kubani, Krasnodar Krai, Russian Federation.

The General Staff added that operations against key enemy targets are ongoing.

As a reminder, on the night of September 15, explosions and fires were reported at industrial facilities in Russian regions. In particular, incidents occurred at the “Sebryakovcement” plant in the Volgograd region and the Syzran Oil Refinery in the Samara region.
