Rostov and the surrounding region came under a massive UAV attack: fires broke out, and there is damage and injuries

Consequences in Rostov and the region

The first explosions in Rostov-on-Don occurred after 3:00 a.m. Local social media groups shared footage of Russian air defense systems in action, flashes in the sky, and fires that broke out on the ground as a result of incoming missiles and falling debris.

In the morning, the mayor of Rostov released a report stating that five people were injured as a result of the nighttime events: four men in Rostov and one in the Krasnosulinsky District. Two people were hospitalized.

According to Russian sources, the Sovetsky and Zheleznodorozhny districts in Rostov itself sustained damage. Damage has been reported at the following locations:

• two apartment buildings and two private homes;
• high-rise buildings under construction;
• commercial enterprises and warehouse facilities.

Significant damage has also been reported in the following districts of the region:

• Krasnosulinsky District: infrastructure and the administrative building of the “Novoshakhtinsk” road border crossing point were damaged. Traffic restrictions are currently in place there;
• Azov District: a private home caught fire, and an administrative building was damaged;
• Myasnikovsky District: commercial real estate properties were damaged.

According to local officials, all fires had been extinguished as of this morning, and efforts to assess the extent of the damage are ongoing.

Air Traffic Restrictions

Due to the threat of UAVs, nine Russian airports temporarily implemented “Carpet” mode (delays in takeoffs and landings of civilian aircraft). The restrictions affected airports in Tambov, Penza, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Cheboksary, Yaroslavl, Kazan, and Kirov.

The Ukrainian side and the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not yet officially commented on the events in the Rostov region.

As a reminder, on July 24 in Minsk, an explosion triggered a fire at the “Integral” plant, which manufactures microelectronics, including components for Russian cruise and ballistic missiles. According to eyewitness reports, numerous fire crews and ambulance teams arrived at the facility, while the Belarusian Ministry of Emergency Situations officially reported only a fire in the attic of a single-story building and stated that there were no casualties.

And on the night of July 25, a fire broke out near the “Engels-2” military airfield in Engels, Saratov Oblast, Russia. According to OSINT analyst ASTRA, the fire engulfed a building that is believed to house a military unit.
