The SBU struck a tanker belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet” and set fire to three oil depots in the Stavropol Krai

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported this.

The Ukrainian maritime drone “Mamai” targeted the large ocean-going tanker “Avero.” This vessel belongs to the Suezmax class and was used by the Kremlin to transport significant volumes of crude oil in circumvention of the international embargo imposed by the G7 countries and the European Union. The tanker is subject to Ukrainian sanctions and regularly transported Russian raw materials to China and India, providing Moscow with funding to wage war.

The disabled “Avero” is now the fourth Russian “shadow” tanker that the SBU has taken out of commission over the past ten days, the agency emphasized.

The SBU did not specify the date of the attack.

In addition, the SBU’s long-range drones attacked three oil depots in Russia’s Stavropol Krai. The distance from Ukraine’s state border to the targeted sites was approximately 600 kilometers.

The strikes caused massive fires at all three Russian facilities. Eyewitnesses reported a series of explosions and intense fires in the fuel and lubricant storage tanks.

The security service emphasizes that these operations are being carried out in accordance with the directives set by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. These systematic strikes significantly complicate Russia’s oil exports, deprive the Kremlin of petrodollars, and reduce the occupying army’s ability to supply its units with fuel on the front lines in a timely manner, the SBU concluded.

As a reminder, on the night of July 19, in the Stavropol Krai of the Russian Federation, according to reports from local public groups, an oil depot in Mikhailovsk was attacked. A fire broke out at the facility following the strike.

Also, on the night of July 19, personnel from the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces cut power to 13 substations in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and struck four of the occupiers’ vessels.
