The names of the crew members killed in the Mi-8 that shot down Russian drones have been released

This was reported by the Brody City Council.

Four servicemen were killed on June 30, 2026, while carrying out a combat mission to intercept enemy unmanned aerial vehicles.

Those who fought their final battle were:

• the crew commander, Captain Yuriy Voron;
• flight navigator, Major Valentin Mukshinov;
• flight engineer, Senior Lieutenant Bohdan Khmil;
• air gunner, Junior Sergeant Mykhailo Deryaga.

The city council noted that the servicemen fulfilled their duty to the very end, defending Ukrainian airspace, providing cover for the infantry, supporting combat units, and saving the lives of Ukrainian defenders.

Yuriy Voron was a senior pilot in the helicopter flight of the 16th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Brody.” He participated in Operation Joint Forces, and after the start of the full-scale invasion, he flew dozens of combat missions. He was awarded the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, 2nd and 3rd classes, the Order of Danylo Halytskyi, and other departmental distinctions.

Valentin Mukshinov served as a senior navigator and pilot in a helicopter squadron. From the start of the full-scale war, he carried out combat missions in various areas. He was a full recipient of the Order “For Courage” and was repeatedly honored with state and departmental awards.

Bogdan Khmil served as a flight engineer in a helicopter unit. He joined the ranks of the 16th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Brody” in March 2022. For his service, he was awarded the Presidential Distinction “For the Defense of Ukraine.”

Mykhailo Deryaga served as a senior air gunner in a helicopter unit. From November 2023, he served in the 16th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Brody.” He was awarded the Presidential Distinction “For the Defense of Ukraine” and the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class.

The Brody City Council announced that on July 7, the community will bid farewell to the fallen defenders. At 9:30 a.m., the funeral procession will be received at the Alley of Heroes, after which a farewell service will be held at the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Life-Giving Cross.

As a reminder, on the night of Friday, June 27, a MiG-29 fighter jet was lost while on a combat mission in the Poltava region. The pilot successfully ejected.
