Ukraine is working with international partners to strengthen its air defense ahead of the winter season. At least 300 interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems are needed to protect Ukrainian airspace.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha made this statement during a United24 event.

According to him, Ukraine is negotiating with countries that possess the necessary air defense capabilities. First and foremost, this involves PAC-2 and PAC-3 interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems.

At the same time, the minister emphasized that progress is being made in negotiations with partners. He said Ukraine has already provided its allies with the necessary estimates of its needs for getting through the winter.

Sybiha also announced the development of a new approach to sanctions against Russia. Ukraine proposes imposing swift sanctions following every Russian missile strike.

Such an “anti-ballistic package” is intended to target Russia’s banking system, its economy, and its access to the technologies necessary for missile production.

According to the minister, Ukraine is already working with partners on the sanctions mechanism. In addition to European countries, Kyiv is coordinating this effort with Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

As a reminder, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha called on international partners to immediately provide Ukraine with additional interceptor missiles and air defense systems following a massive Russian attack.
