Sybiga accused UNICEF of drawing a false equivalence between Ukraine and Russia

Acting Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga criticized UNICEF over reports of children killed and injured during the war in Ukraine and Russia. In his view, the organization’s wording creates a false impression of equality between the aggressor and the victim.

According to the diplomat, the organization’s statement failed to acknowledge that the deaths of Ukrainian children were a consequence of Russian aggression. He believes that presenting information without this context creates a false equivalence between the warring parties.
Sybiga also pointed out that certain facts had not been properly verified. In particular, he noted that the deaths in Krasnodar were linked to a drone attack, which, according to reports, was shot down by Russian air defense forces.
Separately, the diplomat drew attention to the data regarding the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to him, not three but seven children from the same family were killed there. Sibiga also reported the death of a 3-year-old boy in the Kyiv region.
As a reminder, Ukraine’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sibiga stated that Ukrainian diplomats at all levels are working to secure interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems, specifically the PAC-3 anti-ballistic missiles.
