Russia continues to recruit foreigners to fight in the war against Ukraine. Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service has obtained documents regarding at least eight Indonesian citizens who were recruited into the ranks of the Russian occupation army.

This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

According to intelligence reports, Russia is recruiting foreigners to bolster the ranks of its armed forces.

In addition, Moscow is using the recruitment of citizens from other countries for propaganda purposes to portray alleged international support for the war against Ukraine.

The SIS also notes that the number of people willing to voluntarily sign contracts with the Russian army is declining amid growing dissatisfaction with the socioeconomic situation, the war, and rumors of a new wave of mobilization.

The scheme for recruiting foreigners into the Russian army has already been used to target citizens of dozens of countries.

Potential recruits are offered high pay, non-combat roles, a simplified path to Russian citizenship, and social benefits.

As a reminder, Ghana has called on Russia to stop recruiting its citizens to participate in the war against Ukraine.
