Center for Countering Disinformation refutes Peskov’s claim that Russia’s strikes rere “responses” to Ukrainian attacks

The Center for Countering Disinformation called this statement manipulative.

The Center emphasized that the Russian authorities are once again attempting to shift responsibility for their own attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.

According to the Center, Russia has been systematically attacking Ukraine’s energy sector, civilian infrastructure, and businesses since 2022. Russian attacks continued even before Ukraine gained the capability to strike military and other targets on Russian territory.

The CPD believes that Peskov’s statement about “reciprocal actions” is an attempt to shift responsibility away from the Kremlin for their consequences.

As a reminder, the Kremlin reacted to Britain’s plans to transfer to Ukraine classified technologies that could be used to produce Storm Shadow/SCALP long-range missiles.

In addition, Mashovets explained the two strategies the Kremlin was choosing between amid trillions in war spending. One is to let the war run its natural course toward a so-called “self-extinguishing” outcome; the other is to attempt another decisive push.
