Russia reported an attack by 42 drones: there are reports of a strike on an oil refinery in Kirishi

The incident was reported by Alexander Drozdzenko, governor of the Leningrad Region of the Russian Federation, as well as by the Telegram channels Exilenova+ and Falcon Insight Map.

On the night of August 29–30, the Leningrad Oblast of Russia came under attack by drones. This was stated by the region’s governor, Alexander Drozdenco.

According to him, at 2:06 a.m., a UAV threat was declared in the region. Residents were also warned about a possible slowdown in mobile internet speeds. At 3:41 a.m., Drozdenco stated that 30 drones had allegedly been shot down over the region.

At the same time, monitoring channels reported that the “Kirishinefteorgsintez” oil refinery in the city of Kirishi had been hit. According to the Falcon Insight Map channel, the impact zone was likely near the plant’s critical facilities.

"Kirishinefteorgsintez" is part of the Russian oil company "Surgutneftegaz." The facility is the only oil refinery in the northwestern part of the Russian Federation and one of the largest in the country.

Russian authorities have not confirmed reports that the strike specifically targeted an oil refinery facility.

As a reminder, the Russian government has extended the ban on the export of diesel, marine fuel, and gas oil by direct producers until September 30, 2026. Moscow explains the decision as necessary to stabilize the domestic fuel market, but in reality, it is a response to the consequences of attacks on oil refineries.
