In Sumy, there are casualties following a Russian jet-powered UAV strike near a high-rise building. The Russians also destroyed a shopping center.

This was reported by Oleg Grigorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, and the State Emergency Service’s press office.

Serhiy Kryvosheyenko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration, noted that the enemy launched a massive attack using FPV-type and “Molniya” drones against one of the densely populated residential areas in the Zarichny district of Sumy.

The fire caused by the strike destroyed the “Epicenter” shopping center. Rescue operations were complicated by the continued threat of further strikes.

The official added that the strikes damaged residential buildings, gas station infrastructure, and private vehicles, and a State Emergency Service vehicle was burned.

Earlier reports indicated that two adults and four children were injured as a result of the enemy strike on Sumy.

An 8-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl are receiving medical treatment in hospitals. Their injuries are not serious. The other victims received medical care without being hospitalized

According to the official, the enemy continued its attack on the city afterward. Two more strikes hit the same area of the city.

All strikes hit civilian targets. The Russians deliberately targeted areas with residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure. One of the strikes caused a massive fire at a shopping center. Information regarding the casualties is being verified.

A video that has been released shows that the target was the “Epicenter” hypermarket.

Just as rescue workers were beginning to extinguish the fire, the enemy launched repeated strikes. During one of the attacks, a service vehicle was destroyed and one emergency response vehicle was damaged

Rescue workers have provided updated details on the consequences of the enemy strike on the city.

A rocket-powered UAV launched by the occupiers struck a 9-story residential building. A fire broke out on the first floor. Rescue workers evacuated the residents of the high-rise building

The area surrounding the building was also attacked. Two cars caught fire. Rescue workers extinguished the fire.

As a reminder, on July 19, the Russian occupation forces once again struck civilian infrastructure in Sumy with guided aerial bombs (GAB). As a result of the enemy attack, one person was killed under the rubble, and three civilians were injured.
