Zelenskyy Set New Tasks for Syrskyi and Hnatov

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi and General Andriy Hnatov will remain in the military.
The head of state announced this during a press conference with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin.
According to Zelenskyy, both generals will share their experience and assist the army’s new leadership in decision-making.
“We all understand this, so we will ensure that both Oleksandr Stanislavovych and Andriy Hnatov do not step back, but instead pass on their insights to the new command—that they remain close by, offering help and advice.”

Volodymyr Zelenskyy identified strengthening air defense, reforming the Territorial Defense Forces, and changing approaches to mobilization as priorities for the new command.
According to him, all these areas must be implemented in close coordination with the Ministry of Defense and other agencies—something that, in the president’s view, was lacking previously.
The head of state reported that he had held several discussions with Syrskyi and Hnatov.
As a reminder, the Prime Minister of Ireland has arrived in Kyiv. During his visit, the Irish official will hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the newly appointed Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi.
Zelenskyy also outlined priorities for Drapatyi and Khmara: “We’ll have to do everything together.” The president also confirmed that a personnel reshuffle is planned within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
