Zelenskyy Met with the U.S. Ambassador to NATO and the Commander of the Alliance Mission: What They Discussed

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Kyiv with U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker and Lieutenant General Curtis Bazzard, commander of NATO’s Special Mission for Security Assistance and Training in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy announced this on Telegram.
According to Zelenskyy, the key topic of the conversation was strengthening the defense of Ukrainian airspace and increasing the supply of interceptors for the Patriot systems under the PURL program. The president emphasized that this is one of the top priorities amid the ongoing, massive Russian strikes.
The parties also discussed the bilateral defense partnership between Ukraine and the United States. In particular, they discussed the implementation of U. S. President Donald Trump’s decision, made in Ankara, to grant Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot systems.
Separately, Zelenskyy reported on progress regarding the “Drone Deal” – an agreement in the field of unmanned technologies. According to him, Ukrainian and American teams are currently working on it, and it has “real potential”. The president expressed hope that it would be finalized in the near future.
During the meeting, Zelenskyy also presented Curtis Bazzard with the Order of Merit, Third Class.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy specified how many Patriot missiles Ukraine needs for the winter.
In addition to the Patriot system, Ukraine is developing alternative air defense systems. In particular, this week, together with nine European countries, a Missile Defense Coalition was established to jointly develop the Ukrainian Freya system.
