Oscar-winning actress Brenda Fricker, known for “Home Alone 2,” dies at 81

Irish actress Brenda Fricker, known for her roles in the films *Home Alone 2* and *My Left Foot*, has died at the age of 81.
The BBC reports this.
Brenda Fricker made history as the first Irish woman to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in *My Left Foot* (1990). At the time, she won the award, beating out Julia Roberts and Anjelica Huston.
Ukrainian viewers fell in love with the actress for her role as the “lady with the pigeons” in New York’s Central Park in the movie *Home Alone 2*.
The actress also played nurse Megan Roach in the BBC series “Casualty.”
It is known that the actress began her career in Ireland, appearing in theater, TV series, and films. Her credits include the films “So I Married an Axe Murderer,” “Angels in the Outfield,” “A Time to Kill,” and “Veronica Guerin.”
In 2024, the Lord Mayor of Dublin proposed granting her honorary citizenship of the city for her contribution to culture.
As a reminder, Republican U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham died at the age of 71.
