A record year: Prospective students submitted nearly 1.2 million applications to universities

This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science.

Only in 2021 were there more applications—1.33 million. It is important to note that this refers to the number of applications, not the number of applicants. One person could submit multiple applications.

Top Universities

The National University “Lviv Polytechnic” received the most applications—59,676. This is 37.6% more than last year.

In second place is Ivan Franko National University of Lviv with 46,601 applications (+7.4%).

Third place went to the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” with 39,188 applications (+37%).

Most Popular Majors

In 2026, applicants most frequently chose management—105,301 applications (+32.8%). Psychology came in second (66,774 applications), and philology came in third (61,410 applications).

Demand for majors with special support increased—232,354 applications (+33.4%). The largest increases were seen in construction and civil engineering (+61.6%), electrical engineering (+57.1%), and automation and robotics (+53.5%).

What’s Next

By August 6 at the latest, applicants will receive admission recommendations. They must confirm their enrollment by 6:00 p.m. on August 11. Enrollment must be completed by August 13 at the latest.

This year, the enrollment agreement can be signed electronically through the applicant’s account.
