A terrorist attack by Russian special services was foiled in the Kyiv region. They had attempted to assassinate the head of one of Ukraine’s defense industry enterprises.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
It is noted that a 63-year-old retiree from the Luhansk region was involved in planning the terrorist attack. The Russian FSB was behind the plot.
The enemy planned to kill the official using explosives attached under the driver’s seat of his car.
Security forces took preemptive action.
They detected, seized, and defused the bomb in advance; it contained 1 kg of hexogen, equivalent to 2 kg of TNT.

In February of this year, the Russian FSB recruited a retiree who had moved to the Kyiv region from the Luhansk region through his son, who had left the temporarily occupied territory and was living in Russia.
After receiving instructions from his Russian handlers, the suspect purchased two cell phones and a power bank at a local store. A month before committing the crime, he retrieved the remaining components for the homemade bomb from a hiding place he had set up in advance. A few days later, the suspect assembled all the components and attached the finished improvised explosive device to a vehicle

The press service noted that the perpetrator placed a phone—camouflaged across from the vehicle and connected to a power bank—which provided the Russian handlers with a live video feed to trigger the explosion.
Immediately after planting the explosive device, the perpetrator took a bus to Poland, intending to flee to Russia from there.
According to the SBU, the perpetrator was detained in the Republic of Poland while attempting to travel to Russia via Belarus.
A request for the detainee’s extradition to Ukraine has been filed. He has been notified in absentia of charges under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 1 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: attempted terrorist attack.
As a reminder, a Russian agent within the Armed Forces of Ukraine was coordinating enemy strikes against southern Ukraine. The traitor turned out to be a soldier mobilized into one of the mechanized brigades in the Odesa region. He was detained by the SBU.
