A collapse occurred in a six-meter-deep trench in Ternopil; two men were killed

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Ternopil region on Facebook.

A report of an emergency on Yevhen Konovalets Street was received by the Rescue Service on August 25 at 4:35 p.m. According to preliminary information, a sudden landslide occurred in a trench during excavation work, trapping two men under the rubble.

Rescue units from the State Emergency Service were dispatched to the scene. Specialists first stabilized the soil to prevent another collapse, after which they began search and rescue operations to locate and free the men.

The rescue operation was unable to save the victims. Both men died.

Twenty rescuers and five pieces of equipment were deployed to address the aftermath of the incident. State Emergency Service psychologists worked with the victims’ relatives and provided them with the necessary support. The circumstances of the tragedy are currently under investigation.

As a reminder, on the night of August 12, Russian troops attacked the territory of one of the State Emergency Service units with drones. The strikes damaged buildings, specialized equipment, and engineering vehicles. Fires also broke out on the unit’s territory.
