Pilgrims are arriving in Ukraine on the eve of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. Currently, the main flow of people is passing through border crossings adjacent to Moldova.
This was stated by Andriy Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, according to Novyny.LIVE.
About 17,000 Hasidic pilgrims have already arrived in Ukraine ahead of the Jewish New Year. Despite the threat of Russian shelling, border guards have recorded a sharp increase in the flow of foreigners in recent days.
The main flow of pilgrims is entering Ukraine through the “Starokozache” border crossing on the border with Moldova

According to the State Border Guard Service spokesperson, organized groups of pilgrims began arriving in Ukraine as early as the 20s of August. At the same time, the highest volume of traffic has been observed over the past two days.
As of now, about 17,000 people have crossed the border into the country. And they have been crossing the border most actively over the past two days. For example, yesterday approximately 7,800 Hasidic pilgrims arrived. The day before, the number was slightly over 3,000. Prior to that, the numbers fluctuated between a few hundred and, at times, a few dozen.

He noted that, as in previous years, Ukraine continues to warn foreign pilgrims about the risks of staying in the country. After all, the possibility of coming under Russian attack remains even while crossing the state border.
As a reminder, on September 9, Russian drones attacked the “Starokozache” border crossing in the Odesa region: two people were killed, and three others were injured.
