The Head of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office Stated That High-Level Corruption Is on the Rise in Ukraine

The level of corruption in the country is not decreasing, and bribery among top officials is actually on the rise. At the same time, the government is openly demonstrating a lack of political will to adequately combat such incidents, as evidenced by a number of unresolved issues.
This was announced by Oleksandr Klymenko, head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), during a briefing.
In particular, the issue regarding the expert institution has not yet been resolved, and the so-called “Lozovoy amendments” have not been repealed; thanks to these amendments, corrupt officials continue to evade accountability through the dismissal of cases on purely formal grounds.
The SAPO head cited another significant obstacle: the agency’s lack of authority to independently initiate investigations into members of parliament and to approve investigative and covert investigative actions against them.
Therefore, we must not be dependent on the will of another official who has absolutely no connection to the anti-corruption agency
