Russia is losing up to 1,500 troops a day, but still has the resources to continue fighting. To make up for these losses, it is recruiting foreigners from more than 40 countries into its armed forces. The Kremlin is planning a large-scale mobilization.

Russian recruiters in occupied Donetsk are reportedly seeking out men in bars and on the streets and taking them to military enlistment offices, where they are coerced into signing contracts with the Russian Armed Forces.

The Russian General Staff has already prepared a plan for additional mobilization this year and next. Russia expects to recruit 600,000 people: 300,000 each year. 

MP Oleksandr Goncharenko stated that the Temporary Investigation Commission is demanding that the National Police conduct an internal investigation into the mobilization of Mykola Kulichenko on June 26, 2026, in the Chernihiv region.

In the Mykolaiv region, police and the Territorial Coordination Center detained a driver from the Kherson Rapid Response Unit of the Red Cross while he was evacuating civilians. As a result, evacuation trips from Kherson have been temporarily suspended.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, led by Oleg Ivashchenko, reported on preparations for a Russian mobilization.

The level of corruption in the country is not decreasing, and bribery among top officials is actually on the rise. At the same time, the government is openly demonstrating a lack of political will to adequately combat such incidents, as evidenced by a number of unresolved issues.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia has established three rings of air defense around Moscow by deploying air defense systems from various regions of the country. At the same time, North Korea is gaining experience in modern warfare under Russia’s guidance.

During Operation “Honest Draft” in Zakarpattia, a large-scale scheme to illegally remove conscripts from military registration was uncovered.

When we hear about the Russian government’s plans to carry out a mobilization, there are several key points to consider. I won’t focus on the fact that mobilization in Russia was declared back in 2022 and is still ongoing; instead, I’ll try to analyze the possible military and political logic behind this move.
