Mykhailo Drapatyi The Office of the President of Ukraine

The new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatyi announced that he has assumed his duties in his new position. He also commented on the appointment of Major General Ihor Skybiuk as Chief of the General Staff.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine wrote about this on Facebook.

Drapatyi recalled that he first met Skybiuk back in 2022 in the south, when they jointly led the operation to liberate the Kherson region from the same command post, and has known him ever since as a commander whose experience, decisions, and personal principles can be fully relied upon.

The Commander-in-Chief specifically noted that during Skybiuk’s leadership of the Airborne Forces, a group of strong commanders has emerged, including Oleg Apostol, Dmytro Voloshin, Yevhen Lasiychuk, Sviatoslav Zayets, Emil Ishkulov, and Andriy Tkachuk.

There is difficult work ahead, so we are working without making grandiose promises, taking responsibility for our decisions, and showing respect for the people who are holding the front lines and helping Ukraine stand firm

Among the key tasks that President Zelenskyy has set for the new military leadership, he cited the continuation and intensification of offensive operations across all domains, the planning of new daring operations behind enemy lines, the development of military technologies, and the systematic buildup of the overall capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As a reminder, on July 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Oleksandr Syrskyi from his post as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Later, Zelenskyy announced that he was appointing Mykhailo Drapatyi as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On July 22, it was announced that Major General Ihor Skybiuk would become the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
