On August 10, the High Anti-Corruption Court modified the pretrial restriction imposed on Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. The investigating judge allowed him to travel within a number of regions, but he must wear an electronic ankle monitor.

This was reported by the SAP press office.

The defense’s decision to file this motion with the court was prompted by the simultaneous receipt by the SAP and the NABU of a series of letters with similar content from military unit commanders on behalf of the suspect

From now on, Yermak may travel outside Kyiv and the Kyiv region to the following regions: Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson, with the option of transiting through other regions.

The former head of the Presidential Office explained this necessity by citing his participation in a project to provide legal assistance to military personnel.

The prosecutor objected to granting the motion, arguing that the obligations previously imposed on the suspect in connection with the application of a preventive measure did not hinder the implementation of the project, in which he serves as a manager rather than as a lawyer directly providing legal assistance

It is noted that the defense asked the High Anti-Corruption Court to remove Yermak’s obligation to wear an electronic ankle monitor, but the judge denied the request.

As a reminder, on May 11, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) notified former Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak that he was suspected of money laundering involving property obtained by criminal means on an especially large scale.

On May 14, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a pretrial detention measure on Yermak, with the option of posting bail of 140 million hryvnias. He is one of the suspects in the laundering of 460 million hryvnias related to the construction of the “Dynasty” project. After posting bail, he was released from custody but was subject to a number of procedural obligations, including the requirement to wear an electronic ankle monitor.
