He explained that over the past few days, at the height of the harvest season, Russia has bombed “at least three civilian cargo ships.”
Sybiha compared Russia’s actions to Iran’s attacks on energy routes in the Strait of Hormuz, noting that Moscow is now targeting global food markets in the Black Sea.
According to him, if such attacks continue, millions of families in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America risk facing rising food prices and the threat of famine.
Ukraine’s Response
Ukraine requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on July 27. Andriy Sybiha called on all states, especially those directly affected, to immediately demand that Russia cease its attacks on freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.
