The Poles arrested for assaulting Ukrainians in Wrocław face up to five years in prison

This was reported by “Ukrinform,” citing comments from Jakub Dłubacz, a spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław.

Today, the detainees will be questioned at the Wrocław-Psie Pole District Prosecutor’s Office. There, charges will be filed against them, after which the prosecutor will decide on further action in the case.

The detainees are charged with crimes under Articles 158 (assault) and 119 (violence motivated by national intolerance) of the Polish Criminal Code. Both articles carry a penalty of up to five years in prison.

The third participant in the attack has not yet been detained. The police are continuing their search for her.

As a reminder, the incident occurred on Sunday, July 26, in Wrocław. The unknown assailants attacked a young couple from Ukraine after Poles in a store noticed the couple’s Ukrainian accent.

Later, Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kiewiński reported that the suspects have criminal records. One of them was detained while attempting to leave Wrocław.
