The Ukrainian Embassy in Poland has expressed deep outrage over yet another act of vandalism targeting a Ukrainian memorial site in the Białystok area near the village of Liski in the Lublin Voivodeship.

This is stated in an official statement from the diplomatic mission.

Unidentified individuals have once again desecrated the graves of Ukrainian soldiers, damaging the memorial.

The embassy emphasized that any acts of destruction or intentional damage to memorial sites are unacceptable.

Regardless of the complex and tragic chapters of our shared history, burial sites and memorials must remain outside of political disputes and be treated with respect in accordance with generally accepted European standards and Christian values.

Of particular concern is the fact that this incident comes amid a rise in hostility toward Ukrainians in Poland, including reports of acts of aggression and attacks.

The diplomatic mission has called on the competent Polish authorities to immediately take legal action, establish the circumstances, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure the restoration of the damaged memorial site. The Embassy has already officially raised this matter with the Polish side.

As a reminder, a meeting of the Ukrainian-Polish working group on dignified burials took place in Lviv on August 5. Poland provided Ukraine with a new list of sites for search and exhumation operations.
