Mykhailo Drapatyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has instructed the Military Law Enforcement Service to conduct an official inspection of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment.
This was reported by the author of the investigation, Anna Kalyuzhna.
The investigation was prompted by a high-profile journalistic report on the existence of so-called “barrier units” within the unit and the use of unlawful methods of punishment.
Law enforcement officials will investigate allegations of criminal orders being issued (including threats and orders to open fire on soldiers leaving their positions), as well as instances of physical and psychological abuse.
If the facts of illegal actions are confirmed, those responsible will be held accountable in accordance with applicable law
Response from the Main Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The journalist noted that this response is currently the only official reaction from state institutions.
As a reminder, the publication “Teksty” previously published an investigation by journalist Anna Kalyuzhna regarding the 225th Separate Assault Regiment (OShP). “Shelter” reported on the investigation’s findings.
