Large fire at an "Avrora" warehouse in Kyiv region – Smoke may spread to Kyiv

The State Emergency Service reported that the fire has been extinguished. Rescuers prevented the fire from spreading to a neighboring building. Water is currently being sprayed on the structures.

Update 7:10 p.m.:

The Kyiv Regional State Administration confirmed smoke caused by a fire in warehouse facilities following an enemy strike in the Bucha district. Residents are advised to close their windows and take precautionary measures.

Update 5:54 p.m.

According to the patrol police and Oleksandr Biloshitsky, a section of the Kyiv–Chop highway has been closed.

Starting at the 23 km mark of the M-06 highway, traffic is restricted in the direction of Kyiv.

A detour toward Kyiv is available via the following routes:

• at the 23-km mark of the M-06 Kyiv–Chop highway through the towns of Dmytrivka, Zabuchchia, Bucha, and Hostomel;
• at the 30 km mark of the M-06 Kyiv–Chop highway through the towns of Shpytky, Lychanka, Hnativka, and Bilohorodka.

A fire is raging in the Bucha District of Kyiv Oblast, with warehouse facilities ablaze. Due to wind direction, smoke may spread toward the capital.

The fire broke out after a strike hit the warehouses of the “Aurora” retail chain. Fortunately, no one was injured; everyone was in shelter.

Due to the danger posed to particularly vulnerable people (children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with chronic cardiovascular diseases), experts recommend:

• close the windows;
• limit time spent outdoors;
• turn on an air purifier if possible;
• drink plenty of water.

As a reminder, Kyiv plans to review the traffic management procedures for the capital’s bridges during air raid alerts. City officials, in collaboration with the military, are to develop an updated protocol and submit it to the government.
