Moscow and the Moscow Region came under a massive drone attack on the night of August 17–18. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that hundreds of drones were heading toward the capital region and noted that Russian air defenses were in action.
The Russian mayor made this statement on his Telegram channel.
According to Sobyanin, more than 600 drones have allegedly flown toward the Moscow region since the evening of August 17. Russian authorities claim that about 180 of them were shot down or neutralized by air defense systems in the Moscow area.
At the same time, footage has appeared online in which, according to the authors of the posts, a high-rise building appears to have been hit and a fire can be seen.
Russian officials have not confirmed that the damage to the residential building was directly caused by a drone.
Separately, there are reports of an attack on a warehouse belonging to the Russian e-commerce platform Wildberries in the Moscow region. A fire broke out there following the strike, which, according to Russian media, was later brought under control.
We also note that near Novorossiysk, the Suezmax-class tanker Skiros was attacked after being loaded at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal. The vessel was carrying oil of Russian origin, according to sources familiar with the situation.
