"They took down" Wildberries: The Main Intelligence Directorate announced a successful cyberattack on the Russian marketplace

Ukrainian experts from the Cyber Corps community carried out a cyber operation against the digital infrastructure of the Russian marketplace Wildberries. The attack caused widespread disruptions to the company’s services.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The attack was carried out on August 10–11 as part of a systematic cyber operation against the aggressor state. According to intelligence reports, despite the facility’s high level of security, specialists managed to inflict significant damage on the company’s digital systems.
As a result of the specialists’ actions, the following disruptions were observed in the marketplace’s operations:
- Customer service: The main remote communication channel was disrupted, and contact centers were overwhelmed.
- Financial transactions: The payment infrastructure was partially destabilized, leading to widespread user complaints about being unable to make payments.
Intelligence sources emphasized that Wildberries plays a significant role in Russia’s logistics and in financing its aggression against Ukraine. The cyberattack took place amid artillery strikes carried out by the Ukrainian Defense Forces against the marketplace’s warehouse complexes.
The cyberoperation amplified the effect of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ kinetic strikes on Wildberries’ warehouses – inflicting yet another round of significant losses on the company that fuels the aggressor’s economy and, consequently, its criminal war against Ukraine
