In Donetsk Oblast, the occupying forces shot a Ukrainian prisoner of war: an investigation has been launched

Under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pretrial investigation has been launched into a war crime that resulted in the death of a person, following the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war by Russian invaders.
This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General on Facebook.
According to the report, the crime was committed on July 22, 2026, when, during an enemy attack on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions near the village of Myrne in the Volnovakha district, Russian soldiers captured a Ukrainian soldier and killed him.
Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting a series of urgent investigative and search operations aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident and identifying the Russian servicemen involved in the execution.
As is well known, the intentional killing of prisoners of war constitutes a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.
