The first strike during the Russian attack on the village of Mila in the Bucha District on August 28 hit a Defense Forces ammunition storage facility that was not supposed to be there.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement.
The head of state called the placement of explosive devices near the civilian population “horrific negligence” and called for a prompt investigation into all the circumstances of the tragedy.

According to the president, he has already discussed the progress of the investigation with the Prosecutor General, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. All relevant agencies are involved in the legal assessment of the actions of those responsible, Zelenskyy emphasized.
As a reminder, on August 28, 37 people were killed as a result of an enemy drone strike and subsequent explosion at a facility in the village of Mila, Bucha District, including Taras Didych, the head of the Dmytrivka community, who had gone to the scene to help people. More than 40 others were injured.
Emergency services continue to work at the site to address the aftermath of the fire and the damage. As the rubble is still being cleared, the death toll may rise. August 30 has been declared a Day of Mourning in the Kyiv region.
