Poland may reopen the issue of Russian missiles shot down over Ukraine, says Sikorski

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that the issue of intercepting Russian missiles while they are still over Ukrainian territory requires serious discussion.
This was reported by PAP, citing statements made by Sikorski on Polish radio.
Sikorski commented on a statement by former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who recently spoke out against the transfer of additional missiles for the Patriot systems to Ukraine.
Ballistic missiles have been flying toward Kyiv for several days in a row—missiles against which there is currently no defense—and are killing an increasing number of people. The question of whether we can be certain that it would be better to shoot down these Russian missiles over Ukraine rather than, perhaps, later over Poland, is a topic for very serious discussion that should not become a pawn in partisan rivalry.

He also commented on proposals regarding the Polish Defense Industry Group and cited the example of Ukrainian private companies that manufacture drones and missiles.
Sikorski emphasized that to achieve a ceasefire, the U.S. must put pressure on Russia, not Ukraine—in particular, by passing the sanctions bill named after Senator Lindsey Graham.
As a reminder, earlier, Przemysław Czarnek, a candidate for prime minister of Poland from the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party, called for halting EU aid to Ukraine. He stated that if he became head of the Polish government, he would “force Ukraine to radically change its course toward Poland and Poles.”
