Two police officers were killed and more than 40 others were injured as a result of a Russian strike on the National Police Headquarters building in Zhytomyr Oblast. Emergency rescue operations are ongoing at the scene.

This was reported by Ivan Vyhivskyi, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the minister, the attack took place during the day, when not only police officers but also civilian visitors were inside the building.

After the air raid alert was sounded, most people managed to get to the shelter. However, the double strike, unfortunately, claimed the lives of two police officers:

  • Artem Zubchuk (32), a police captain and senior operative of the Strategic Investigations Department in Zhytomyr Oblast;
  • Yulia Yevdokimova (39), a police lieutenant colonel and assistant to the chief of the Main Department of the National Police in Zhytomyr Oblast.

May the deceased rest in peace, and our sincere condolences go out to their families and colleagues

As a reminder, on August 19, Russian troops launched an attack on Zhytomyr using “Banderole” rocket-powered drones. The attack struck the National Police building. Cleanup efforts are ongoing at the scene.
