Fire Point has begun military testing of the FP-7 ballistic missile following the successful completion of the two previous testing phases.

MILITARNYI reports this, citing a statement by Iryna Terekh, CEO of Fire Point.

On the sidelines of the “Photonics4Defense 2026: Technology Exchange & Matchmaking," held in Poland, Terekh said that the FP-7 has already undergone ground and laboratory tests, during which the operation of the missile’s main systems and subsystems—including the rocket engine and navigation equipment—was tested separately.

The missile has now moved on to military testing, which is part of the certification process for adoption into service. At this stage, the developers are collecting data on its performance and comparing actual characteristics with calculated ones.

Terekh also stated that the FP-7 could enter service in the very near future.

The codification of the FP-7 was originally scheduled to be completed in 2025

In late November 2025, it was reported that Fire Point planned to complete the codification of the FP-7 tactical ballistic missile with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense by the end of the year.

However, in early February 2026, Fire Point’s chief designer, Denis Shtilerman, noted in an interview with DW that the process could not be completed on schedule due to a “series of events.” At the time, he expressed hope that all tests would be completed in February.

Meanwhile, another of the company’s projects—the FP-9—is currently in the flight test phase, i.e., the second stage. Testing it is more difficult to organize due to its long flight range. For the FP-9, there is a minimum ballistic flight distance beyond which it is no longer possible to programmatically stop the missile.

Because of this, Ukraine’s territory is insufficient to conduct a full cycle of FP-9 tests. According to the developers, once the current phase is complete, its military tests may proceed directly to deployment against Russian targets.

As a reminder, in July, Fire Point unveiled the FP-7.X anti-ballistic missile for Ukraine’s new FREYJA air defense system. The company also demonstrated a test of the FP-7.X missile, which performed a fully controlled maneuvering flight.
