Key production facilities at the "Kametstal" steel mill in Kamyanske were damaged as a result of a ballistic attack

According to updated information from the company, the dead include four plant employees and one employee of a contractor. Four more workers with injuries of varying severity were taken to hospitals.

The press office noted that only a few minutes passed between the air raid alert and the missile strike, so some people did not have time to reach shelters.

The ballistic missile strikes damaged the sintering and blast furnace facilities, as well as the plant’s power and transportation infrastructure. There were no military facilities or military production sites on the plant’s premises, stated Oleksandr Myronenko, Chief Operating Officer of Metinvest.

Emergency rescue operations and debris removal are currently underway at the facility, after which specialists will be able to conduct a full inspection of the equipment. The extent of the damage and the timeline for a possible resumption of production are still unknown.

September 5 has been declared a Day of Mourning in Kamyanske for the victims.

As a reminder, on the night of September 5, Russian forces fired five ballistic missiles at the city of Kamyanske in the Dnipropetrovsk region, one of the targets being the city’s main industrial enterprise. Five people were killed in the strike, and the plant was forced to completely halt production due to the damage sustained.
