Due to Russian attacks on port infrastructure and vessels, cargo transshipment at the ports of Greater Odesa has decreased by more than 15 times since July 22.
This was stated by Mykola Kalashnyk, Ukraine’s Minister of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport.
The minister held a coordination meeting in Odesa with military commanders and representatives of the port industry.
Russia is systematically attacking port infrastructure and civilian shipping. Ports, piers, ships, anchorages, and shipping routes are under attack. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, 1,173 port infrastructure facilities and 274 civilian vessels have been damaged or partially destroyed.

According to him, discussions focused on maintaining terminal operations, insurance, compensation for losses, and finding alternative logistics routes—primarily via rail and the Danube ports.
Kalashnik emphasized that businesses must continue to operate even given the current level of threats.
As a reminder, former Special Representative of U.S. President Donald Trump, Keith Kellogg, arrived in Ukraine and, together with an American delegation, visited the Odesa Commercial Sea Port. They inspected the damage caused by Russian strikes on the port’s infrastructure.
