Ukraine forces cut off Russian salient near Lyman, reclaim more than 200 sq. km, OSINT analyst says

During a counteroffensive in the Lyman sector, Ukrainian forces cut off the Russian salient north of Lyman and liberated more than 200 square kilometers of territory. The operation lasted about four months.
This information comes from French OSINT analyst Clément Molin.
According to him, the Ukrainian military managed to cut off the Russian salient that had formed north of Lyman. At the same time, he estimates that the Russian presence west of Kolodyaziv remains.
The liberated territory exceeds 200 square kilometers. Molin called the Ukrainian operation one of Ukraine’s most significant victories in 2026.
In his view, the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces could complicate a further Russian offensive toward Lyman, Izyum, and Sloviansk, as well as delay Russian offensive operations in the north of the Donbas.
As a reminder, fighters from the 23rd Assault Regiment of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Charter” liberated another 4 km² of Ukrainian territory in the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv Oblast. This information was confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
