In Belgorod, a fire broke out at a university where systems for UAVs were being developed following a drone attack

The university has been developing and testing unmanned aerial vehicles. Specifically, the university’s official Telegram channel previously announced the creation of an automated UAV control system based on the Russian “Milandr” microprocessor.

At the same time, the university itself stated that this development is intended for civilian use. According to them, it was planned to be used for monitoring power lines, heating mains, and aerial photography.

Also, in the summer of 2026, BDTU announced enrollment of schoolchildren for summer training sessions on drone development.

At the time of publication, Russian authorities had not reported on the consequences of the attack for the university. Meanwhile, throughout the night, the Belgorod Region’s operational headquarters issued several warnings about the threat of drone strikes.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on the night of August 2, the Defense Forces carried out strikes on a number of military and infrastructure facilities in Russia, including the Engels airfield, the Saratov Oil Refinery, an oil depot in the Kaluga region, and a drone base in the Bryansk region.
